Saratoga was where the talented and royally-bred ALPHA ($1,815,667) scored some of his most notable triumphs, winning first-out as a 2-year-old, registering back-to-back wins in the Grade 1 Travers and Grade 2 Jim Dandy Stakes as a 3-year-old, and capturing the Grade 1 Woodward Stakes as a 4-year-old in 2013. For Fasig-Tipton’s Saratoga sale of New York-bred preferred yearlings on Saturday and Sunday evenings, August 12-13, two colts and two fillies from Alpha’s first crop have been cataloged. They are:
Hip No. 336, colt – his half-sister (dam’s first foal) has won a maiden special on dirt by seven lengths and placed in an allowance optional on turf – both at Monmouth in unrestricted company since catalog.
Hip No. 579, colt – his winning half-brothers include winner of $160,750 New York Derby by two lengths in 2015; also half-brother to graded-placed super-sound filly that won nine races on dirt and all-weather.
Hip No. 583, filly – half-sister to two six-figure-earning fillies – one a 10-length Aqueduct allowance winner and earner of $244,905; the other missed by a head from gaining black type in $150,000 stakes.
Hip No. 592, filly – half-sister to winner of four races within less than seven months to date. Dam won eight races at six tracks coast-to-coast, including three times at Aqueduct, and earned $139,225.
