A May-foaled 2-year-old colt from the first crop of multiple Grade 2-winning sprinter-miler FORTY TALES sold for $165,000 to Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners from the consignment of Jose Munoz, Agent, at the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s spring sale of 2-year-olds in training on Friday, April 28. A week earlier, this colt had raised eyebrows when he worked a quarter-mile in 21 1/5 seconds – 19 days prior to his chronological 2-year-old birthday of May 10. He was bred in New York by McMahon of Saratoga Thoroughbreds, LLC.
Forty Tales (Tale of the Cat – Forty Love, by Forty Niner) represents a branch of the STORM CAT sire line that recently has become increasingly prominent. Sons of TALE OF THE CAT include the sire of a 2017 multiple Grade 2 winner and current leading Kentucky Derby contender and another stallion that has sired a 2016 Eclipse Champion Sprinter and Breeders’ Cup winner plus a 2016 Canadian classic winner – both in his first crop. Forty Tales is one of the fastest sons of Tale of the Cat at stud.
