Becky Thomas | Owner

From her early days barrel racing, to pinhooking, to thoroughbred sales and breeding, to owning and operating a first-class thoroughbred farm in New York’s Hudson River Valley, Becky Thomas is an accomplished horsewoman. Sequel New York was founded in 2001 and, since then, has been upgraded to an elite 223-acre thoroughbred stud and breeding farm. Becky’s goal for Sequel New York is to be one of the top thoroughbred stud and breeding farms in the U.S., not just New York as evidenced by the quality of stallions as well as staff.

Molly Lightner

Born and raised on thoroughbred farms in the bluegrass of Kentucky, "horse talk" is all Molly Lightner ever heard growing up. Molly's career in thoroughbred breeding and racing began at The Jockey Club Information Systems. After a seven-year stint in corporate America, Molly bought a pickup truck and a 2YO filly and has been in the thoroughbred industry ever since. With over 20 years of experience at top horse farms such has West Point Bloodstock and Hill n’ Dale Farms, Molly has learned from the best. Her commitment to the industry and her passion for outstanding customer service is what Molly brings daily as a key team member at Sequel.

Teri Brown | Farm Manager

Teri has been working with horses since her 4-H days in junior high school. She spent 12 years working with physically disabled children and adults, teaching them horseback riding and horse care. Teri started managing horse farms in 1995 in Arizona, and eight years at Waldorf Farm in New York prior to becoming Sequel’s Farm Manager. With Teri Brown at the helm, our horses, our farm, and our staff are in great hands.

William (bill) mcguire, ph.d. | assistant Farm Manager

Bill comes to Sequel from the world of academics most recently establishing the thoroughbred breeding program at Arkansas State University. Born in South Dakota, Bill was a calf roper for many years combining his passion for learning and horses into degrees from Kansas State as well as Colorado State University. Dr. McGuire received his PH.D. in reproductive physiology and followed with postdoctoral studies in Nebraska continuing his research in the field. His excitement to join Team Sequel is infectious and he looks forward to recruiting some “Red Wolves” equine students to continue their education with hands on experience in foaling, breeding and management.

Buster Brown | resident cowboy

At the age of 6, Buster was riding on cattle drives, from New Mexico to Colorado. A modern day cowboy, he has trained many horses in the quarter horse and show horse world. From breaking, to training and the breeding shed to the foaling barn, he knows his way around a horse. Working alongside his wife, Teri for the past 35 years, he spent the past eight years as Farm Manager for Waldorf Farm in North Chatham, New York. Sequel is proud to welcome someone with Buster’s experience and horsemanship to the team.
